Last night I was sitting around reminiscing about DAoC with a couple people (Kurvaj, Darina/Margots/Amnezia and Stompem) and Kurv wanted to look up a few names, not able to remember everyone since it's been so long and he found the Best of Class thread
Funny the names that are on there, and how memories come flooding back, especially the old frontiers and the milegate standoffs. Anyone remember the Alb Relic Raid in Midgard where a group of Hibs caught them at the milegate and killed 90% of the raid, causing the zone to crash from the volume of deathspam? Or the time that Groundkeeper took 5 minutes to kill me with his newly crafted ultra slow polearm (gogo bladeturn)?
What was the name of that Mentalist in Divine Vengeance that had that NASTY DoT? It used to wipe out swaths of Mids when we were trying to defend the relics.

I can't believe I didn't even make a single post in that thread, so much Kali bashing I thought for sure I would have jumped all over it.
Although I can understand not getting any play, I sucked on eld pretty badly until moving to Lamorak and hooking up with some Germans.

Those were great days when the AE DOT was king. It felt good to kill Cylanth and Garek over and over at Alb milegate with my dot. I would pay good money to go back to that time.

That's right. Egads, that guy used to rip me to shreds. I'd rather be nuked, bolted, slammed, hacked, anything but DoT'd. It always just seemed so much worse when that happened. Just watching, helplessly as your health drained away and your character lurching in pain every second or two before your inevitable doom. That was one of the reasons I shelved my Troll Berserker (for a while), I couldn't stand the sound of the troll yelping in pain from DoTs.
@Meddyck, lol, don't I know it. Last time I let my hair grow out and shaved it back off (balding isn't beautiful, but BALD is) it had a bunch of gray in there.

Well, at least 4 people back then had some sense!! 
I was a weird kid back then, researched the hell out of infi's and no buffs from bots outta pride.
(and I still made that list... I'm glad I don't have as much free time as I did back then! I think I used to play 8-10+ hours a day. yeesh.)

I think a great many of us spent an unhealthy amount of time in that game... and others that preceded or followed.
It's a deliberate act on my part to only play for a short while each time/day I do play. Get more chores done, time spent with family, read more books, hang with more friends (ok, more often).
When Margots was in Texas and I was in Arizona I spent more time online ingame that I did at work with 15 to 17 hour stints on Saturdays and Sundays. It wasn't healthy. I don't regret being a Team Lead, the friends I made during that time, but I certainly could have scaled it back to something sane.
