Its entirely possible that I am too thin skinned for a PvP server. I'm just not that competitive or amused by the smack talk and posturing. Honestly the level of competition on Seastone is starting to simultaneously bore and annoy me. Between epeen waggling adolescents and bloviating overweight desk humpers jockeying for the title of king of the douches, its wearing on me. I don't take pride in ganking lowbies, griefing nubs while they level, or spawn camping people. I certainly hope the overwhelming level of jerkishness fades a smidge. Its even worse when the morons in question can talk to you.

Don't get me wrong. I'm Not quitting or anything. I'm just venting about how irritated I am at it all and how lost I am as to how its even remotely more fun than...I dunno, not putting up with it.

Uruz.

It's not hard to lock yourself away and not deal with people outside of your guild.

I made a seperate tab... I call it 'chat' and only allow guild, party, warband, and direct tells to be viewable. Everyone else doesn't matter to me.

This is a pvp server... this is the typical behavior of it. I used to let guardians live.. and wave and they'd wave back then I'd go on my own way... only for the same person to gank me in mid fight so now everyone is kill on sight.

I like it.. but then again I'm surrounded by some fun people and we mostly pick on each other constantly... darn canadians!

I actually have to agree with Lexi. I turn channels on and off according to when i need them for quests or groups etc. I enjoy the fact that i can get ganked at any time as it keeps me on my toes. I also enjoy the fact that if someone ganks me - i go back and gank them back.. most people, are just that, people. So once we gank eachother once or twice, if we both decide to keep questing around that area, we go about our business with some "good fights" or whatever. There are times when i have to move (well not so much anymore - now that I'm at a level where i can kill 50's at times too), and yes its frustrating, but i couldn't imagine not being able to find pvp on a regular basis. That's the fun for me. But everyone has different ideas of fun, so just like my idea isn't right or wrong, neither is yours. We all just have different ideas of it.

Open PvP on Rift has it's matches with DAoC. I can remember roaming and hitting people while XPing at Cliff Beetles, Fenrir's, Wraith's, Templar's and good ole Darkness Falls (A real mans dungeon). It did however feel much different, mostly being it wasn't something you would see ALL the time. 90% of the people you engage in open world are in the process of DOING something... Questing/Mining/Agro'd/AFK ... so on so forth. When in DAoC 90% of the people you ran into were looking for you too. It isn't the same by any means when you look at it, though some likeness can shine through at times.

I've adopted my own policy on how I will engage PvP on this server and I honor that code. I did the same thing in DAoC and honestly once you try and take pride in what you do it becomes more competitive and fun for me.

Red is dead, plain and simple. I however will NOT stand and grief people and waste both of our times. Once I've got you once on a "Gank" I salute you and carry on... Talking with the enemy is quite possibly the thing I hate the most about in this game, just because the overall threshold of respect has been lowered so LOW. If someone gets a kill on me, it isn't a /salute /bow /rofl /bang /military ... It's the tossing together of words like "LOL U MAD?" "TERRIBAD" "ROFL SUCK IT" "LOLOLOL"... In closing I will be bolding this statement because I think it best sums up this post. The general drive of killing an enemy no longer has anything to do with competition; it is fueled by revenge because of the personal connection you can get with that enemy. (AKA Trash talk)

Lexi how do you feel about Ruin Inc. ?? I sparked beef with them a while back and I've turned it into a rivalry... Which makes me quite happy because this is the type of things that got me motivated in Midgard. However it's fueled by anger though, not attempting to gain the respect of my enemy.

I'll word it best for everyone...

It's like everyone is Garek.

As for the trash talk, you can take it both ways. In battlegrounds we often have conversed with enemies and I've noted a lot of polite exchanges compared to negatives such as 'good game' or 'wow you do good damage, how did you spec' and we'd share vent info and converse further etc. Those nice gestures outweight the 'you all sucks' and such from the opposing teams. I've also been ganked and apologized to the other day - which was rare LOL

So as you've noticed negative things due to how my side acts, I guess I can say I've noted more manners.. so I guess you Guardians are polite and us Defiances are meanies hehe. Regardless, I've been very polite to people. I've even almost killed someone... let him live.. snared him.. and demanded he calls friends for help.... the kid actually did.. and I killed his entire group hehe.

It's fun.

I don’t recognize their name, mainly because I’ve learned that raiding post cap level is useless. We’re a tight guild so we’ve had no problem at all getting enough people to run the dungeon instances or hit up a battleground together. We mostly do rifts together as well, so rarely do I have to “Pug it out” but if I do I just hit the ‘public group’ pop up and not associate with anyone. I’ve done a lot of exp’ing solo as I find it faster, and I’ve not met anyone outside of my guild. I recognize some names from their spam, but I turn that off fast. Sorry I cannot be of much help in the knowledge of my realm mates yet.. they are inferior and don’t mean jack spit until they serve a purpose to me.

Yesterday some Riftblade jumped me while I had 2 mobs on me, I die. I come back, rez, stealth, go heal up behind a rock. I followed him around for 4 or 5 minutes, he pulls Heckles (an elite in Droughtlands), I run over and stun for 4s from stealth followed by 4s from a skill and let the mob kill him. XP death back to you, buddy. <3

Then we had a few fights out in the open with no mobs involved, and fun was had. It definitely derails the quest grind so if your goal is leveling to X on any given night it'll detract from that. But it's fun.

Naly and I have spent the last couple nights questing as a duo. Not only does the XP fly by way faster because we can more efficiently grind through tons of mobs (bard/assassin) but we can handle our own in most small skirmishes. We've had quite a few really fun 2v2's! That stuff is awesome.

When I get into a warfront I just get really bored, world pvp is so much more fun.

Although, I played Mordred for a lot of years so none of this feels too harsh to me. On Mordred everyone was your enemy, at least here 1/2 of the people on the server are your friend.

Most of us quit. Over all it was the same situation repeatedly. It’s a fun game, but it just didn’t hold a lot of our interest. I think Kloster plays still but it’s only because his play time is limited and he can get instant action if he wants. I had to quit due to working non stop and got sent to the wreckage of Alabama. I doubt I’ll get back into the game as I’ve been busy with some other stuff. If I return to a game, it may just be DAOC which always has my attention.
