Well, my final diagnosis is....

Transient ischemic attacks (mini-strokes) caused by migraines, triggered by .. flourescent lighting.

I'm completely off of medications, and am feeling much, much better - so long as I leave the lights off in my office. My doctor also recommended I get a good pair of sunglasses, and use them whenever I'm in a place with those types of lights. So far, so good.

Glad to hear you found a solution to the problem.

I too can't stand florecent lights (although VCF's don't bother me, and I don't NEARLY have any problems like you do), and generally like a room dark rather than very bright. I almost never turn my overhead lights on in my office, but rather use desk lamps. I used to get WICKED headache with them, or any other bright light. When I wore glasses (before Lasik), I found that having a 40% brown tint to them cut down on headaches A LOT. Now I have to wear sunglasses when I go out.

I first heard about the tint from some interview show on TV about a woman who treated her patients with colored classes. I figured, what do I have to lose, I just goofed around, and it seemed to work. That is when I heard about Photophobia.

It's good to know what it is, finally. Glad you are able to gain *control* over it, so to speak.

good to know.

flourescent lighting is bad, the flickering can lead to a whole lot of problems for people.
