I don't necessarily think that Mizzou was a lock for the Big 10. I think that the Mizzou leadership thought that and didn't bother to try and get any leverage. I think the Big 10 knew Mizzou was its lapdog and used its leverage to cajole Nebraska into leaving, and thus initiating the breakup of the Big 12. After which, they could then scoop up Mizzou under whatever conditions they laid out. Texas bluffing and not leaving when Nebraska did poked major holes into the Big 10 plans.

However, I do think that Mizzou was a lock to get into a BCS conference had the Big 12 broken up. Mizzou was a natural fit with the Big 10 and met all of their stated criteria. You never heard about any rumors of Mizzou to the SEC or anywhere else up until last week because everyone assumed they were Big 10 bound. Once it became apparent they were not, there began plenty of talk about where they would go. They were a natural fit to the SEC with A&M (provided OU did go to the Pac 10). Even the Big East started being mentioned due to Missouri bridging the gap from Kentucky to Kansas geographically.

Well... not sure what to say. I would have liked OU to be a bigger part of the talk and not just let texas do what it wanted.... however from what I understand there was a lot of talking between texas and OU as to how both could reap the reward with this.

Both are going to be bringing in a TON of money now, with the option to produce a solo tv deal if they want. Money wise I guess it makes sense but I would have rather had the conferences implode because then I think we would have had a playoff. Now no playoff IMO for at least 5-10 years.
