Soccer WTF |
I'm trying to get interested in the world cup, and admittedly know very little about the rules of the game. I'm getting over the clock running backwards. I can watch without being irritated by the vuvuzela noise. But watching today's US/Slovenia game, I have a question...
Game's 90 minutes. Halftime at 45. Just before half, the TV scoreboard shows a +2, and they keep on playing for a little bit. Then at the end of the game, the backward clock is saying there's less than a minute until we get to 90, but there's a +3 on the score thing, and they keep playing until 94:15 or so, and then a ref blows a whistle & that means the game is over.
WTF is with the whacky time thing?

its soccer, im in the same boat...but im totally not interested in it. the horns should be banned, and ESPN should stop slamming the damn sport in my face. cant wait for it to be over...but i do understand that the rest of the world its what they have and root for...its a national thing, unlike here where we have other sports that are far more interesting imo.

Because the clock is constantly running they add a few minutes to the length of each half to make up for stoppages of play, usually injuries. That is why the +3 was on there. They were saying they were going to go for three extra minutes. I love the buzzing noise, I wish the NFL would allow it.
