Well things are about to get real interesting for us outsiders. While I remain hopeful that Kansas can land on its feet it is still very uncertian what will happen in the coming weeks and months. This will definitely make the sweet move to Lawrence in two months a little bitter. Oh well it is what it is, all we can do is hold our heads up high and hope we land on our feet. Rock Chalk Jayhawks.
I have had a strange feeling the past couple of days; it feels like I am looking at my life long lover on a death bed slowly fading into nothing, second by second.

I honestly don't see why the SEC wouldn't be interested in a school like KU, as it would allow them to go into a measuring match against any of the other conferences in basketball, as they would have two of the four classic super powers (Kansas and Kentucky, with North Carolina and Indiana being the other two...), just like they do in every other sport.

It is apparently obvious that at this point basketball hold no sway what so ever when it comes to college sports. As a fan of Kansas I overrated the impact of being a great basketball school. The money is just not there for basketball as it is for football. This is probably in part because there are more top tier programs in basketball than in football. There are only 119 D1 schools in football, and there are over 330 D1 schools in basketball.

you mean 330 D1 schools with only 119 being in the D1-A subdivision right? Also for basketball it depends on the school, in fact for that I shall direct you here and just scroll down to Syracuse. Honestly if it weren't for the whole FBI thing going on with Kansas right now, they probably would get an invite from the Big Ten.

As with all the other rumors and innuendo I will wait until things are announced officially before I offer any real incentive. It is still up in the air. If Notre Dame says they want in the Big 10, that they would get the one and only invite and Nebraska is back out again. Too many rumors out there - even though this one looks to have more legs than most and is probably true, I'll believe it when I see it.
The money in basketball issue is not necessarily intended by school. Where it is maxxed out is that the NCAA tournament is maxxed out, and there is just not much more money to be had no matter what individual teams do. If there is a playoff added to college football, there has been the number of ~900 million new revenue dollars being injected into the sport (divided between all participants). Football drives revenue at most schools and it could become much more profitable.
And LOL @ Nebraska being at the peak of anything! now that is funny.

i see Kansas ending up in the mountain west...Kansas has no football program and its football that will bring the money. not the basketball program that Kansas has built. its sad, because it would be nice to see Kansas land a good conference.
i did read the other day about ND just waiting to see how things fall into place, and that they should be in a conference in the next 5yrs or so. also heard that the big ten isnt going to stop at 12, they are looking to expand to 14. which some are predicting that Mizz and ND as the added teams...oh and possibly Rutgers.

Well one thing is actually official as of today!
Colorado is now in the Pac-10. If you go to the Pac-10 conference site they are officially welcoming Colorado aboard.
Was this a move to get them into the conference and tell the Texas legislature that they don't call the shots?

Rumor has it that the Texas schools want to stay together, could the SEC jump at the chance to bring Texas into their conference? It would make sense, SEC has four spots open in the "super conference" set up and Texas has four schools looking. That would be very interesting to see how the Pac 10 reacts. Do they go after the rest of the Big 12 minus Missouri who is bound for the Big 10 eventually? Or does the Pac 10 raid the mountian west at that point?
