one of the better articles written on the saga...it's hard to find quality amongst the so called experts. it's hard to realize that Manning wont be a Colt...im sure other fans in the past can understand how i feel, such fans from SF, Balt. Colts, diehard Farve fans from GB. sadly in the end of the day my loyalty is too the team and not the player, since the players loyalty usually isnt to the fans. i take exception in Manning, and honestly feel that he wanted to retire as a Colt, but the clock was ticking on a 28mil timebomb...i can understand the buisness decision, but it's one of those things that is going to be difficult to see in the future.

...../sigh.....

I feel the same way about Pujols..

I still think it was the wrong decision. Having Manning as a colt is worth much more in merchandise, advertising, and putting people in the seats in the long run than his payout he was due.

Also, someone should have told him how well his team did in its first year without Manning as QB..

Finally, the day is here. That cry baby is no longer a Colt. Go to another division and ruin life for the teams in that division Manning cause I am tired of looking at your ugly horse face twice a year. I hope Luck is a fluke, the Colts dont deserve another super star quarterback one season after losing one of the best to ever play the game.

Someone is butthurt. Was glad to see it finally over. Now it will be interesting to see where he goes. You can make an argument that 20+ of the NFL teams would be better with Manning.

Hopefully he is healthy and has a few more years left. I enjoy watching him play.

I still have some resentment towards the Eagles not holding onto Dawkins. That loss of leadership was a pretty big rift imo and still hasn't been filled. They should have just shelled out the $5mil/year or whatever Dawkins got in Denver for his leadership alone. And he is still making plays in Denver. Cheap teams - business decisions - blah blah blah.

/rant off

agree, and you could have saved money by not signing the dumpster fire of V.Young.

I like the way the Eagles conducted business up to this past season. I didnt like the free agency spending fest the went on, but other than that the Kolb and McRibb trades were great, and the decision to buy into Vick was good as well. I think the Eagles will get their act together this next season and look more like a dream team than the nightmare team they looked like for most of last season. Rather or not Irsay is right on Manning, letting Manning go is the best decision. Assuming he plays another four years you risk losing Manning and your heir to Manning at the exact same times. Four years from now the Colts would be a disaster in that scenario, they could be facing the potential of having to pay Andrew Luck huge money without ever seeing him on the field, and then going through growing pains for Luck at that point. Even with a healthy Manning I do not buy into the Colts being the power house they once were, I just do not see it at all. The rush ends are getting old and beaten up, the offensive line is still not that great, they have no running game to rely upon, and the defense is just as average as it has been for the past few years. May as well cut Manning and get the rebuild going again. The Colts had a historic run, but like all things it has come to an end. Be thankful for the run that you had and realize that what happened to the Colts this past decade was very far away from the NFL norm. If you understand that, it will make the next decade much easier to handle.

I didn't mind the Eagles spending fest last season. I thought VY wasn't a bad signing for a back up either. He won a bunch of games in Tenn. But him spouting off "dream team" sigh... that pissed me off so much. The Eagles had the money to spend and did it. At least they didn't do dumb free agent signings like Snider and the Redskins usually do. Our signings all panned out for the most part.

Coaching on defense and the holes at the linebacker position continue to haunt the Eagles since the death of JJ.

...well the fire sale continues. Clark, Bullitt, Addai all released today. Freeney is up for trade. it's going to be a interesting year next season at the bottom of the AFC south.

Amendial, i agree with all your points regarding the Colts. it was the best decision, but still is hard to swallow as a fan.

Manning to the Broncos, this should be interesting. Now I am not alone in being a Manning hater in Kansas.
