Seems silly for me to do it at this point. Curious when others did right off the bat or at some later time...

Pretty much as soon as I got my camera, more than likely it's completely redundant, but it makes me feel good

As soon as I bothered to DL a script that does it automaticly for me 
I only use sigs, as I don't really mind if people want to crop them away, but would like to get the recognition if people decide not to

The only watermark worth a damn covers up the art so I never saw a need except it keeps the casual people from stealing it.

Ghost is basically right, its alot like a lock on your door, it only keep the honest folks out.
By watermarking, right click protection, and keeping them small you'll keep most of the people from stealing your work.
Ones that really want it can over come all that, but it may make it alot more unattractive to them in effort vs reward.
But it can never stop someone thats smart and determined.
