It's finished!!! Well kinda. The old brick walls still need rendering and the outside all needs a lick of paint, but aside from that. it's done, now I just need a nice day to take some photos.

I did take one photo, the wheel barrow finally gets to have a rest...

Looks like the wheel barrel needs a sanding and a lick of paint too.

Remember when you say US shal.. That it's a huge place compared to over there.

No idea what you paid over there.. But prices here can range extremly. Place I lived in PA , you had to spend 300-500k for an acre and a 3 bedroom 2 bath house.

Down here in Alabama my 2 arces with 3 bedroom and 2 bath only cost alittle over 100k

I post on another British board (auto/trike board) and always get a kick out of them saying Americans should travel more and how most of us don't leave the country, till I explained how the diff states are almost like different countrys and how BIG it is over here.. Heck just go a couple states away in distance would take you passed France over there.. Hehe
They are nice people though, I just like to tease them.. LOL

Your place is looking good! Does that mean your husband isn't moving you over here for his job?

Hehe, didn't mean to generalise, even here the house prices vary hugely based on where you live. I live in one of the cheapest parts of the country, I couldn't tell you what I own in acres as only really huge homes are sold with that info, probably about a quarter at a guess though, it's three beds and one bath with two reception rooms and was last valued around £165k which is just over $270k. The same amount of land and house would probably be worth over £750k which would be over $1.3 in London, which is the most expensive part of the country.

So as far as I'm aware, on average you get more house for your buck state side

We still have no idea when or if a move over the pond is going to happen. We want it, his boss wants it, his bosses boss wants it, but there is so much red tape involved that we don't know whether it can or will happen. It's just a case of wait and see

I do feel torn on the whole thing, I love where I live, I love my house and my neighbourhood, I'm just sick of all the crap that is happening in the UK and of the weather

Going from one part of Texas to the other side is 950 miles or over 1528 km. Europe chokes on that one, hahahah.

It's not a question of distance though, but of culture

Yes, but the one thing you in Europe do not understand is that in Texas, for instance, there are 5 different eco systems and 5 different lifestyles. It is like 5 separate countries.
