Even on a crop camera?

I'm actually in the process of selling my 24-70 2.8L in hope of buying the 17-55. The L lens is an awesome lens, but I just felt like the 17-55mm is a better lens for my needs.

I find myself doing a lot of wide angle shots in crappy lighting with no tripod. Beyond that, my camera gets most of its use during travel so I find the smaller size and lighter weight to be a huge plus.

And maybe it's stupid, but going back to the travel thing, I find not having a red ring advertising the $1k+ price tag of my lens to be a plus...

Yeah, I am leaning towards the 17-55mm, or perhaps the 15-85mm. I just now stumbled across it and it sounds like it would be a really nice lens, with better wide angle shots. If it has a 2.8 or a 3.0 fixed aperature it would be a done deal.

Decisions!

I've used my 24-70 on 1.6x crop bodies and still loved it. But then again, I dont shoot many ultra wide photos when traveling, or if I do, I throw on a 16-35 f2.8.
