Nope. I have never, nor will I ever, get a flu shot. They cover the top 3 strains of that year and that's it. Not worth it to me.

Everyone in the family did when my sister was in chemo for breast cancer. She got a shot too.

I think the biggest problem is that people think of the "flu" as those stomach viruses. It's not. It's a very bad respiratory infection. My daughter has had it twice. Both times she ran over 103 degree fever for 6 to 8 days. In order to keep the fever down we had to give Motrin every 6 hours and Tylenol every 4 hours along with the Tamiflu. That only kept the fever down to 103-104 range. It would go higher if we were late with any dose.

I know a lot of people who think the flu shot doesn't work because they get a virus. But, it's that week long influenza that is what it helps protect from. Luckily, I get a flu shot every year so I was able to take care of her and I didn't get it (although the shot isn't guaranteed to protect from all strains). She didn't get one this year because we couldn't afford it but she will be getting one every year from now on. I definitely want to take all precautions I can so she doesn't have to go through that again.

Got mine this year again when I had my surgery and got the pneumonia one as well since I got walking pneumonia last year.

Kids didn't get theirs last year because many places around here were out or their times were all goofy (like 10-2). Got lucky though and neither of them was ever sick with much of anything. I think an ear infection in the little one once. I will probably get them their shots this year though, don't want to tempt fate too much.

I normally do not get the flu shot, nor does my hubby and we never wanted to get the kids done either....however yesterday at the doctors we got them done on the doctor's advice. He was concerned that Bruce had managed to catch his sister's cold the month before and mentioned that he had several reports of sick babies. I know it is possible for breastfed babies to get sick but they are not supposed to right?

So me, the hubby and Selyna got the shots yesterday. Selyna is fine, hubby is tired and I am alternatly freezing and sweating >.<

And everytime I get up to do anything I feel so lightheaded it's like I'm hig or something.

Man it was a long night for me and will be a long day too

Next time I am saying no!

Breastfed babies can and do get sick, even though they receive antibodies through the breastmilk.
