So now with a 4 1/2 year old and an 8 month old.... there are a lot more things this time around for the baby to choke on.
And for some reason, I swear Ian puts 1000X more things into his mouth than Anelise did.
I have come to the point that everytime I pick him up after he has been playing on the ground, I sweep his mouth just for good measure. 7/10 times, I actually get something 
Oh, and he has already started pulling himself to stand as well as walk along things while holding onto them and even transferring from couch to table and such Kids growing up way too fast. |

My son gets things out on his own now. Then he hands them to me, nice and wet. =/

I hear you there. Zoe is 9 months old and trying to learn how to walk. I think every day for the last 2 months we have had to move furniture or re-baby proof a room. Every time we think we have her figured out she learns a new trick and we have to start the whole process over again

We were very fortunate in that Aime never was one to put just anything into her mouth, she didn't even like pacifiers. The only problem we have with her is when she's eating something she likes, she takes too big of a bite and occasionally has to spit half of it out - usually into mommy's hand. Ick.

When my son was just crawling he picked up everything off the floor and ate it. No stray piece of fluff to be found. =/
He ate sand too in the playground. It's amazing that any of us make it past the toddler stage.

my almost-three-year-old STILL occasionally sticks random crap in her mouth.  I never had this trouble with her older sister!
though I do remember the time I was with my older one at the playground, when she was around a year old or so. she was in the sandbox and I was chatting with another mom, then turned to see my child chewing on something. I did the finger sweep and she was chewing on a ROCK. o.O >.<
how children survive to adulthood is honestly beyond me.

My son did the rock thing too. =/
Our neighbour's daughter tried to swallow a little house from some board game. They got her to the hospital just in time because she could barely breathe. She's totally fine now, but what a scare.
