12 kids quarantined it the college my son goes to (kids are in one of the dorms)

We are getting the shot for free where I work. We have the option of the nasal or the injectable. Taking the shot is optional also, but is offered for free. My doctor isn't doing the regular flu shots until a start date of 11-02-09. He recommends getting the H1N1 shot also.

I am recommending the vaccine to all my patients. I will get it, and so will my kids.

I've read that in adults, the nasal isn't nearly as effective, so if you have a choice... don't go nasal.

We will all get the vaccine when it is available. My daughter's school just had their first confirmed H1N1 case. My co-worker's family thinks they have it since his wife was exposed to someone infected at the local college and now they all have the symptoms.

Vegas has a slew of cases now and we have had close to 20 deaths. About half of which had no pre-existing medical conditions

Still not comfortable enough with the vaccine to get it or have it given to my kids though.

Saw it on ACF, just more information for people out there:

More vaccine stuff

The more I've been doing my own research and reading up on things and seeing more and more different sources, I'm finding that I have been pigheaded in resisting even considering the vax... Also looking like I'm pretty lucky that I will be able to get my whole family vaccinated on the 28th if I so choose.

I choose thee, possible side effects!

Well, it looks like H1N1 has pre-empted my vaccination plans. Both kids and the wife appear to be sick...

I just wish my kids would stop being snotty for a few days so I can get them all stabbed up... Hoping for this Monday/Tuesday. My Dad had a 3-hour wait when he went this week. Not looking forward to that part, but seems better than the alternative right now.

Everyone around here is talking about that 13-year old hockey player that died last week. Just wham.

Some reading from our government. Likely nothing new in there and nothing about the vaccine controversy just basic common sense stuff.

We're being as careful as always about washing our hands after being in public and wife has hand sanitizer at work. Here's hoping we avoid it because I'm in trouble if I get it, and I can't get the vaccination.

I'm amazingly aggravated. My OB office got their doses the day before yesterday (and yesterday was my weekly appointment). Awesome, right? No. All they have are the multi-dose vials which contain thimerosal. I understand that the government has supposedly dis-proven any risk between thimerosal and autism, Guillain-Barré, and all the other disorders/diseases that people have linked to thimerosal (mercury). I don't care, I'd rather not take the risk. (And since both the United States and the European Union have banned thimerosal from children's vaccines as of 1998? 2001? - that just further influences my desire to not take any unnecessary risks.)

My doctor (who couldn't answer a single question about the vaccine that I had, didn't have a clue what thimerosal was, and pulled the 'but you don't want to die and leave your children without a mommy card) recommended the vaccine anyways - to which I said no.

The only way (currently) to receive a H1N1 vaccine without thimerosal is to get your hands on a single dose syringe. I can't find one to save my life.
