My son uses Desonide and Triamcinalon (sp?) I use the Triamcinalon and Protopic.

When he was a baby we used to give him Aveeno oatmeal baths and the seemed to help a bit. We also use the soaps and shampoos from http://psico.com/

I have pictures of my lil guy looking like that as well.. its not fun

Breat feeding is the best way to keep children from getting these problems but if you cant go that route...

Some of the suggestions in the thread we have tried for mine and my 5 year olds problem (we actually had terrible breakouts 3 months ago and it hasnt gone away).

What seems to work for my son is the Burt's Bees Nourishing Baby Bee Oil and Eucerin cream (make sure you get cream, lotion is worthless). Nothing works for me, even three kinds of steroids.

On a side note, maybe take him off the soy milk, he may be allergic, or get a water softener if you have city water. Also - just an FYI, our pediatrician told us never give boys soy milk, it has estrogen in it and is not healthy for their developement. Something to think about.

We've actually tried almost all the formulas on the market now (sigh). His stool started getting flukey with the soy formula, I gave it about three weeks before trying something else (giving it time in case it was a virus or anything of that nature). I tried a milk based lactose free (Similac Sensitive), and he had a full body red rash within twenty hours. Went to the doctor, who said that I could try Nutrimigen or/and Alimentium, but my best bet was something called Neocate (or Nutrimigen AA) - both are Amino Acid based formulas (which are both $55+ for the small can). We absolutely can't afford that, so I started with the Nutrimigen. Blood in the stool and screaming. He's doing alright on the Alimentium, and we're waffling around with some reflux medicine as well.

Eczema wise, we've got Protopic which seems to be working well, it's just hard to stay on top of all the new outbreaks. His skin for the most part is decently clear, so I'll take it.

Poor kid. He had his four month well baby today, during which his doctor said that if I wanted to thicken his stool and lessen some of the puke I could start him on rice cereal - I'm almost afraid to, just because he seems to be allergic to the world. :/

edit - Here's Liam a day or two ago.

Hes adorable Jennifer.

When my guy was 1-3 we had so many foods he wasn't allowed to eat it wasn't funny. going shopping was a chore that took forever because we had to read everything. He was allergic to milk, potatoes, egg, oats, peanuts and a few other things I cant think of atm.

He grew out of it though and now he is just allergic to peanuts and other things he can't control (like grass lol)

If you need an ear to vent to, I'm here, and I've been where you are.

I didn't read all of the posts.

It's usually a sign that he'll be allergic to something.

My little guy had some but it was minimal and it went away. He breaks out now when he eats egg.

There are some creams you can get for it when it breaks out.

Generally
- Slather him in vaseline after every bath.
- Bath him more often to wet the skin but \/
- don't use soap or scrub (wash gently without soap, unless necessary)

Ideology is not reality.
To make good policy, one must consider all ideologies and decide which best solves the reality of the situation. Ideology is afterall, JUST AN IDEA.
