at 4 years old Im having problems getting the pretty princess to nap at all and when I do I pay for it trying to get her to sleep. I'm fixin to put her on my treadmill for an hour before bed!

My kid hasn't napped since he was 2. At 6 weeks he was sleeping through the night.

He does sleep really well at night and sometimes on a long car trip he'll nod off for a bit but even that is getting rare. (He's 4 now.)

My 2 1/2 year old still naps, but it's getting more difficult... Problem is if she doesn't nap, she falls asleep around 6pm or so, just nods off doing whatever it is she's doing!! THEN it's pure grumpiness.

My eldest hasn't napped since she was about 3, but she's always been fine. Even through her first year of preschool (full days at 3 1/2 to 4) she was the only kid that didn't nap ONE SINGLE TIME there. She would read books quietly or whatever, but nope, no napping.

My older son (5) still takes a nap about half the week, depending on how active his morning is. He's in school from 11:50 until 2:45, so his nap isn't until 3:30/4:00, then he goes to bed about 8:30/9:00 (he's in bed asleep by 7:30 on days he doesn't get a nap). Regardless of naps or lack thereof, he's always awake by 8:00. He's getting about eleven and a half to twelve hours of sleep a day.

lol its a challenge for sure.

Today she played with the neighbors kid from 11am to 4pm and (of course) no nap.

so, she tuckered out:

good listening? NO!
whine @ dinner? YES!

right into the tub after dinner for quiet play and then its story-time. (I'm picking my favorite, check my sig for a clue)

On the other hand I had an hour and a half nap today on the couch.

My daughter still naps and will actually let us know she's tired and needs to lay down. We don't call them 'naps' though, because she gets grumpy when you use that word. We call them 'short snoozes' and she's good with that.

My four year old doesn't have regular naps anymore...just occasionally when it's obvious she needs one.

She hates bedtime with a passion though...she calls it "nap time".

Her: "I DON'T WANNA HAVE NAP TIME!"
Me: "It's not nap time, it's bedtime!"
Her: "I DON'T WANNA TAKE A NAP!!"
Me: /facepalm "GET IN BED!"

Of course, she's passed out within five minutes of laying down, always

Same with Matthias.

He came back from Grammy's (called Farmor in Danish - pronounced far-more) and he'd been there since 3pm - had a snack and a full dinner over there, plus a dessert.

When we told him it was bedtime, he said he was hungry - which he's done to get out of bed many times. If you put him in his chair, he just picks at his food until he's rubbing his eyes so much you'd think he had allergies.

Tonight (of course) he actually WAS hungry - must be a growth spurt again... he ate 2 pieces of rugbrød (a black bread) with tuna on them, a whole banana and 6 strawberries.

I have no idea where he puts it all.
