I listen to country.... and metal, and blues, and rock, and rap, and jazz, and bluegrass, and classical, and opera, and honky tonk, and swing....... There's probably music in every genre that everyone likes, they just don't give it enough of a chance usually, methinks.

Eh, I'm mostly a metalhead, but some country is good. I dig Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and the Highwaymen...and Ghost Riders in the Sky is one of my favorite songs.

Moon Mullican, Johnny Cash's early stuff with The Tennessee Two, BR-549. Those three groups/artists will give you a good grounding in Rockabilly. If you want to get into more stuff try Carl Perkins (some say he and Moon Mullican invented the genre and I wouldn't disagree) and for a modern artist try Hank Williams III.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcjofQuDlVw Moon Mullican's signature "Cherokee Boogie"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbriYkfXHyo BR-549's cover of Faron Young's "Live Fast, Love Hard, Die Young"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58Vk9gVxjWo Johnny Cash's "Rockabilly Blues"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6OX5C6-XFc Johnny Cash's "Get Rhythm"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=is4lWYGM6rM Carl Perkin's "Blue Suede Shoes" - Yes he wrote it, not Elvis

Not going to post a Hank III link because most of his stuff would be considered mature.

Edit: How could I forget Marty Stuart's "Hillbilly Rock" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jtvR_sxTkg

I'll one up you with this one.. my hubby listens to Moby.... I think I'd prefer it if he listened to country I don't mind country, used to hate it but got used to it and took a liking to a few songs since the only bars around here are country or dance

I'll reply almost a year later...

It's basically any rock that's southern influenced. Like Lynard Skynard.
