yay!

I don't remember what they are, my mother in law planted them but I do remember they're gorgeous.

I walked by the flower bed and noticed little shoots coming up through the ground. *hops* I love this time of year, I get all excited and stuff.

Mine are coming up too...they've been doing it for a couple months now though because the winters here are so mild! I only planted varieties that are native or well-adapted to the area though so I hope they bloom ok! It's my first year trying bulbs so we'll see. Of course I can't remember what I planted where so I look over the four spots that I see green leaves and wonder which kind of flowers they are

Well you know I marked out *where* I planted the bulbs (so I wouldn't accidentally dig them up trying to plant something else in the same spot!) but I neglected to say *what* the different bulbs were! Doh!

I bought 40 daffodil bulbs a couple days ago that'll go into my front garden bed soon as it stops raining and the ground dries out just a tad

Can I come visit? If we have any bulbs up here they are buried under a layer of ice...and possibly covered later today with snow. *sigh*

Wine on the deck in Texas sounds good to me.

I love daffodils. They just keep multipling and spreading unlike the luck I have had with Tulips which get exhausted after 2 or 3 years. My favorite daffodil is tahiti. http://brecks.com/product.asp?pn=67254&bhcd2=1204727218. I had several at my old home and now I'm hoping to that the ones I planted last year will start developing.

My mom has never been about to get daffodils or jonquils to bloom in her yard. They grow wild up and down their road but refuse to propagate in her yard. She's tried planting new bulbs, transplanting some from down the road, etc. Nothing worked so she gave up.

I don't usually have much luck with flowers in general. My daughter wants to plant some flowers in containers this year. We'll give it a try and see how long we manage to keep them alive. Of course, we have to quit having ice storms first.

When my friend, "S" moved into a new house (well, pre-owned house) a few years ago, she got very gung-ho about fixing up the garden. She spent all weekend for about a month, getting rid of weeds, etc. and preparing it for new plants.

Her mother-in-law came over one day as she was cleaning out the garden and noticed she was digging up the bulbs and throwing them out.

"What on earth are you doing throwing out the bulbs?" said the MIL.

S replied:

"Those are bulbs? I wondered why I had so many onions in my garden. I must have thrown out almost a hundred last weekend."
