"Those Caribbeans' do some good things to rice & beans, particularly the Dominicans. They cook their beans with a sofrito (a spicy sauce) and then mix it up with the rice (about 2:1 ratio of rice to beans). Very flavorful. Recipes on the sofrito vary wildly. Different countries have different preferences. And families hold on to their recipes as closely guarded secrets sometimes. But the one I like is:"
Cuban dishes > Dominican dishes
I'm biased, but that's besides the point.

I can't argue with it since I haven't had any Cuban food.

But this is a native American food stuff not 'rice" as its name implies.

Yeah, it's actually a grass seed, but what's your point? Someone here is asking you what Indian Rice is. From what I've seen, it's the same thing as wild rice. Is that correct?

I'd say it's probably pretty similar since they have similar influences in the food.

Yes it is often sold as Wild Rice.
My point is does any one have a direction to run with this other than a traditional rice recipe. I usually do a sort of dirty rice with it which is ok with the nutty flavor it has but it always seems to lack something.
