So far we're up to...

6 batches of chocolate chip cookies (modified Toll House recipe)
5 batches of sugar cookies (Betty Crocker mix my mom gave my daughter)
2 batches of Russian Tea cookies (old recipe I've had for years)
2 batches of peanut butter cookies (Better Homes & Gardens cookbook)

We still have more to go since we're giving so many as gifts. Plus, my daughter and I will be making the birthday cake for Jesus for Christmas dinner at my parents. We'll bake and frost it Christmas Eve so we don't have to make it Christmas morning.

Have you started/finished/plan to start any special holiday baking or cooking?

Going to be making a key lime pie (found some at the store for $1.39 a pound!), ginger snaps, snickerdoodles (thanks for reminding me, Varence!), sugar cookies, peanut butter cookies, and probably something else (maybe oatmeal).

So far we've made:

Quadruple batch of Soft Chocolate chip cookies (omg I found the best recipe ever lol)

Quadruple batch of Snickerdoodles (we rolled in green and red sugar)

Triple Batch PB cookies (good ol' home and garden recipes! lol)

Quadruple Batch of Gingersnaps

Quadruple Batch of Chocolate Cookies and homemade peppermint icing.

We have sugar cookies left to make, we will quadruple that too, and make the traditional ones, and then make another batch to make Candy Cane Cookies.

We'll also be making Grandma's Sour Cream Cookies.

oh! and Puppy Chow as filler for the Cookie Trays lol.

It took me awhile to get into the spirit of the season this year, I'm so glad my Best Friend convinced me to start baking, I love it.

It's not Christmas until I make fudge. This is just off the back of a jar of marshmallow creme,
it's great, it always works, it's super duper simple.

3 cups sugar
3/4 cup margarine
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 12-oz. (340 g) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 7-oz. (198 g) jar Kraft Marshmallow creme
1 cup chopped nuts
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Traditional method:
Combine sugar, margarine and milk in heavy 2-1/2 quart saucepan; bring to full rolling bail, stirring constantly. Continue boiling 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring. Remove from heat, stir in chocolate till melted. Add marshmallow creme, nuts & vanilla beat till blended. Pour into greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Let cool and cut into 1-inch squares.

Microwave method:
Microwave margarine in 4-quart microwave-safe bowl on HIGH (100%) 1 minute or until melted. Add sugar and milk; mix well. Microwave on HIGH 5 minutes or until mixture begins to boil, stirring after 3 minutes. Mix well; scrape bowl. Continue microwaving on HIGH 5-1/2 minutes; stir after 3 minutes. Stir in chips until melted. Add remaining ingredients; mix well. Pour into greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan. Cool at room temperature; cut into squares. Makes 3 pounds.

I add two squares of baking chocolate and use salted peanuts

All we've made so far this year is sugar cookies and peanut butter cookies without the peanuts (used peanut flavoring concentrate) for the family kids with peanut allergies.

We're not baking a lot of sweets this year because of my diabetes and all of our diets. We're trying to eat healthier and not gain so much weight over the holidays.

I've only made one batch of sugar cookies so far. This month seems to have flown by. I'll need to make more sugar cookies, at the very least, or I'll be lucky to get corncobs and switches.

Does the Son of God always have Christmas dinner at your parents? Whats He like? Hows His sense of humor? Can I get an autographed picture?? Have Him put "To My good friend, Doug, Love Jesus"

Thanks!

Last night I made 2 batches of oatmeal cookies. I've never made them before but used the recipe in the Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook. I didn't have any cinnamon so I left it out since it was listed as optional. My husband said they didn't have much taste but my daughter and I love them!

I have a lot of extra applesauce and apple juice at home. I'm going to see if I can find a recipe for applesauce cookies to make tonight. Or, I might make more chocolate chip cookies since those tend to disappear rather quickly.
