omgosh i do not like mi cocina
casita, used to be casita domiguez, sister restaurant of casa dominguez. been around since the early 60s. east off greenville on blackwell behind the half price book store and in the same parking lot as the black forest bakery.
was sold after the owner, from what i heard mind you, all hearsay, the owner got too many dwi;s.
bc he owned a liquor license, it was taken away. so he tried to give alcohol away, which made the business lose money.
a family friend bought the place. restored it while keeping the food and all the same. i knwo i was waiting to see if the quality went away.
beware tho, this is/was but kinda still is a family place. old style. not big. not fancy. same waiters are there til they die off thats how good the place is. they remember you. they always know what i want to drink, tho at times i change up. they always know what i start out w/ and one lady is so good she even remembers to bring out a bowl of pico and my soft corn tortillas.
you wont find the crowd yuppie or otherwise there. the bar is almost not there. ppl dont go there like they do sayyyyy uncle julios for the bar. young and old do go there tho, all kinds of ppl from the cops to the suits to the guy off the street to the old folks.
was there today as a matter of fact
oh, no fancy smancy salsa either. old style, crisp chips, thin. not hard like...like...like on the borders.
guacamole so good. nachos made plain, normal, not fancy or covered in 15 different ingredients.
look me up sometime and i will be more than happy to take you. you may not like it, but you can give it a try.
