What, if anything, do you put in your burgers?
I mixed some A-1 in it last night ... was pretty darn tasty.
Normally I use a French Onion (dry) mix.

I don't have a recipe that I'm happy with. Still tinkering. But I am convinced that a panade of softened breadcrumbs with milk improves the consistency.

That's the basics. You can add cumin and chipotle chili powder if you want to make them southwestern. You can add chunks of your favorite cheese so it melts in with the meat instead of on top. You can add chopped bacon bits (the real stuff). You can add minced/grated onion and garlic instead of powders. You can use grill seasoning instead of the first four ingredients.
I would never add milk, breadcrumbs, egg, etc., though. A burger should be meat, not filler.

See, I think of eggs/breadcrumbs if I was making a meatloaf, not a burger...

I'm down with meatloaf burgers from time to time. Most of the time when I make burgers though I use a lean sirloin and not so lean chuck mix and just season with salt and pepper. Sometimes I'll spring for Black Angus beef or buffalo meat. Next on my list is to make a Kobe beef burger One thing I always do is toast the bun sometimes with a little garlic rubbed on it.
If you happen to frequent a store with a good butcher you should choose your own beef from the display and ask him to grind it for you.
