I love black eye peas and this is a good excuse to make them, especially when I have a left over ham bone.
I'm going to the store today, they'll have fresh shucked peas, not in a can. They're damn good!
I'll pick a lot up and will cook them for lunch at work for the next too weeks.
But for new years, it's going to be something great that I've never made before. I'm thinking Chicken Kiev.

black eyed peas are nasty 
corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and some nice rolls

Black-eyed peas and rice
Collard Greens (maybe Kale instead)
Pork Chops (usually a pork roast, but I'm the only one that eats meat) baked with sauer kraut and new potatoes
That's traditional New Year's in my family.
