Sandra Lee I can't stand. And she is the live in girlfriend of our Governer Andrew Cuomo

I don't like Giada (sp?) if for no other reason than she bought a pair of $500 shoes on one of her shows. (I know, it's a small thing)...also, she's one of those people that INSIST on using an accent when she pronounces stuff (think mozzarella here).

I don't like Aarti because of the weird growling sound she has to make when she talks (I think that Anne Burrell started that obnoxiousness, not sure)

I LOVE Alton Brown (well, in a cooking kind of way)! I also like Guy and have respect for Bobby Flay although it took watching the show Cheftography to do so.

I don't like Ina Garten because she's a bit stuck-up seeming. I hope the bad press from her kid-h8 gets her off the channel.

I LIKE Gordon Ramsay. I think I could actually work for that guy. Sure he has insane standards, but if you don't aim high and apply yourself you'll do no better than average and who wants THAT as a goal?

I don't like Giada (yes you spelled it right) for the fact she shortcuts things that have absolutely no need to be shortcutted. Okay, so I'm not looking to see her make her own dough and roll out the pasta old style, but if you're making something like gnocchi, it really isn't THAT involved to make it. Or marinara. Or whipped cream. Or half a dozen other things that she always seems to be buying pre-packaged and dumping. That's the same reason I dislike the Sandra Lee chick, but Sandra Lee's show is about quick and easy - so it works. Giada goes on about her Italian background and extensive education and experience and then decides to dump cool whip crap out of a plastic bin instead of taking three minutes to whip cream in a mixing bowl?!

Rachel Ray is a smart mom-cook. She's annoying as all get out but she whips up some nice and easy dishes if you can get past her nasally voice.

I dislike Paula for the same reason. Her recipes are from scratch and amazing, remind me of my grandmother's recipes. But ugh that voice and that fake ya'll. Ugh.

There's a man who cooks late at night though and I can't think of his name to save my life, he's flamboyant (not Brian Boytano) and chatty but he really takes the time to explain the specifics, not just dump, whir, dump, tada! I like him because he'll take the time to say that the crème brûlée should be cooled to what temperature before torching - not simply pull it out complete on a tray and then torch.

Protogere, Paula's y'all isn't fake. That's how we really talk in the South. I actually met her when she stayed at one of the WDW resorts for the Epcot Food and Wine Festival. Seeing as she's famous, she could've been a PITA guest, but she was extremely kind and gracious. She even gave me a hug. I don't think she's as fake as you imagine her to be, but that's just my perception of a one-time encounter with her.

I still live in the south and spent about 20 years of my life living in the south from Virginia to North Carolina to Georgia and have never heard someone use that term or accent it quite as much as she does, which is why it is annoying to me. Maybe I've never been around the right southerners but I've never heard someone say ya'll as much as a valley girl says like.
But to the rest of your comment, I'll agree, she seems to be very sincerely caring and nurturing to people she encounters.

Speaking of Giada, I don't like her (perse) but it's amusing that you don't like her because she pronounces italian food names properly.

Hang around any really strong Italian background family, you'll find they actually pronounce Italian words the way they're supposed to be pronounced. When I lived with 2nd and 3rd generation Italians, they all pronounce those sort of things the right way. hahaha

I don't even watch the Food Channel anymore because I absolutely hate about 90% of the chef's on it. We still DVR Master Chef and Hell's Kitchen but kind of half hearted watch them and sometimes don't even finish the season because we get tired of them.

I Google ingredients to get recipes these days. I don't have a lot of time for TV watching and feel like watching someone prepare something on TV is a big waste of time.

Mainly that barefoot contessa skank. She's just a horrible person and is shows in every thing she does.

Mario Batali is a great chef. I'd love to learn cooking from him or eat just about anything he's made, but he's always come off a dickhead to me. Arrogant and outlandish.
