I don't make it very often because I throw too much into it. First I make a red sauce with meat, hamburger. That takes at least 2 hours of simmering. That's not bad though.

Don't make it often because of all the cheese I throw at it. Each layer gets dotted with Ricotta, mozzarella, and parmesan. Spent about 10 bucks on just the cheese. (I rarely buy cheap cheese)

It's basically a baked cheese melt with red sauce and noodles.

It's YUMMIE!

We're having great weather so I'm also grilling a bunch of chicken thighs and pork steaks to put in the freezer. When the weather is cold and nasty I'll be able to pull out a smoky memory of grilling in nice sunny weather.

Heh, if you only spent $10 on that cheese... you bought cheap cheese.

Hell, good parm is easily $10

Regardless though, sounds yum!

The cheese cost is what stops us from having it more often.

I requested my wife's lasagna for my last birthday meal. Damnit, now I want some.

Damn, now I want lasagna, too. It's definitely the cheese that makes it a cost-prohibitive meal, but it's so worth it! Now that the SO's sister is living with us (which means I live with TWO vegetarians ), I'll have to make it with a meatless red sauce.

I've been hungry for homemade ravioli lately. I need to make some soon.

Cheese here is very reasonable since they make most of it here so we have lasagna quite often. I like to make my sauce with Italian sausage for a bit more flavor.

good home made lasagna is fairly expensive to make

I am not a fan of ricatta cheese so we use more parm and mozz.

Cottage Cheese is a close second taste wise and is easier to apply.
