I have heard good things about them but I have not read them because it is YA.

Basically I envision a really toned down Battle Royale.

It has something like 4.5/5 rating on Goodreads which is shockingly high.

they are pretty damn dark. it kept me thinking for a bit. I really liked them. Try not to get down on the YA thing...

It was a cool accident... I just started Hunger Games while waiting at the bookstore and got hooked. Anyway, read it and lets talk, Yosh. I bet you could read all 3 in like 2 days.

I've read the first book, and I would NEVER give it anywhere near 4.5 / 5.

As you said Yoss, they are just battle royale, without all the stuff that made battle royale awesome.

Not recomended.

Personally... the first book reminded me of the story of the Spartans in Ancient Greece. How every year they would march on the helots and give them an ass whipping to remind them why they work the fields and send the 80%+ to Sparta and not dare revolt(again). It's a twisted lot, but that's what it made me think of.

I enjoyed the series, and if anyone else did or cares, feel free to post.

or you can just slam it into oblivion.

It was a decent book. I had my reservations reading it at first as well. I didnt like the style but eventually I began to enjoy it. I have heard the second book was a huge let down but the 3rd seems promising.

I really liked the first book, the second was meh and the third was unsatisfying.
