Book 1 was basically, "This is pretty decent, it is essentially Star Wars with dragons but the kid is so young I can't wait to see what he writes when he gets older".

Book 2 was basically, "This is more of the same, I suppose I will keep reading".

Book 3 was basically, "HOLY GOD HOW IS THIS SO BAD?"

I don't even remember much of book 3, it was so bad. I had considered re-reading it before starting on 4 since I can hardly remember any plot development that took place in it, but I don't know if I want to subject myself to that. I figure I'll pick up the 4th book in December because I feel obligated to complete the series.... I don't take pride in it, however.

I got book 4 from the library at the school where I work. It helps to have connections. He does a brief summary of the previous 3 books before you start, so you have the chance to hit on the important points before you read the new one. No need to re-read.

Nothing is as bad as the movie was. I can't think of anything... the books are readable imo.

I finished it yesterday, and it was actually pretty good. It didn't have your typical "Everyone lives Happily Ever After" ending, but that was okay.

Well, the first book made a sport of ripping off key elements from over half a dozen other narratives. I wouldn't expect any different from the final book.

The first book was star wars with dragons instead of tie fighters and x-wings. Even the swords were red and blue for the bad guys and good guys, respectively.

Before I say anything else, yes. The books are bad.

That being said, I bought and read the fourth one as well. Against my better judgement. The best thing I have to say about it is that it was a pretty fast read.

It's just bad. :/
