Take the quiz!

It's not spam, I promise, and it doesn't even ask for an email address. It's sort of cool to see where you stack up.

The slower you read the longer your books last. I have always read at a really relaxed pace and I don't trust myself to really read as slow as I normally do when faced with a test.

I read as fast as I can read comfortably (like I was reading a text for school) and got 170% faster than average but if I slow down to my casual novel pace it is only ~100% faster.

True, but when I really get into a book, I have a hard time keeping it slow...

454 per minute, but I don't think I can keep that up.

Reading at my normal pace I got 204 wpm - 18% slower than the national average.

But I've always known I'm a slow reader. I like to take everything in when I read. I have tried reading faster, and even skimming before, and it's just not as enjoyable for me.

I got 593 today, 137% faster than average. I've always done well with reading and reading comprehension, though, so it doesn't really surprise me.

I hate these. I hate being reminded of how slow I read. I read a lot, but I read well below the average.
Reading technical books is particularly painful because of this.

410 wpm on that test, but I actually have 2 reading speeds. Book reading speed and work reading speed. I used to consciously slow down when I was reading a book, now I think it's just natural because I don't even think about it anymore. I have to admit, I have no clue if I was reading at work or book speed for that test. Probably something in between since it takes me a bit to settle into a pattern while reading and that page was too short for that to happen.
