I'm NEVER doing this again! |
Made my wife her anniversary present all by myself, with no help whatsoever. It was our 4th (traditional gift is "Flowers" or "Fruit"  and thought I'd try this. After all, I made a vest in 8th grade Home Ec and had sewn on all my patches for my Army NG uniforms...how hard could it be?
Needless to say, it was VERY hard for a first time effort. Looks good in pictures, looks horrible up close. Having said all of that, she REALLY liked it and the effort and thoughtfulness behind making it. 
Next year the traditional gift is "Wood." Woohoo!!! Let the jokes about me giving my wife wood for our 5th anniversary begin!!!

You made your wife a dress? Wow. I admire the dedication... and it takes some balls to do that, really... but I have to say good job, it looks great on her.
Maybe there's a different career path for you... "Fashions by Cutcha"...

Thanks for the compliments. Seriously though, it is challenging to step outside one's comfort zone and attempt something, whether one succeeds or not. I believe that spouses appreciate the effort regardless of the outcome more than if one just went out and bought something. It shows how far you would go for them and makes that marriage bond that much stronger.
Maybe I'm wrong in this, but it is working for us. Give a handmade gift that is along the "traditional" wedding gift for whatever year is coming up for you that also ties into your spouses likes and interests, regardless of how "perfect" it is, and see what they think.

Impressive.
I personally wouldn't try something like that but I also haven't found someone I care about enough to put that kind of effort into it.
It's very admirable to see this kind of dedication to another person. Plus you have a spyder so that plus this makes you like a awesome badass +1.
