I have passed on the Hunger Games books because it sounds like Battle Royale for kids. Rather or not I see this movie is entirely contingent on rather or not it ends up being good.

I've read the first book and really enjoyed it. My wife and I will see the movie, but we'll wait a couple weeks to let all the teeny-boppers get it out of their system first.

It has a similar concept in that it involves a "many enter the arena and only one leaves alive" central element.

yeah. i'm sure it's not just battle royal or rm exactly but everything i've seen or read about it just screams br to me. i end up just glaring at it. i'll probably grab the movie when it's out on bd but i'm not gonna do more than that.

This. Hunger Games is pretty much a plagiarized version of Battle Royale. I'm shocked Takami hasn't sued the heck out of Collins.

I watched Hunger Games and enjoyed the effects and the soundtrack of the movie and would definitely watch it again.
However I consider it as just a good and expensive remake of the previous movies of that kind.
There are a lot of old films which are similar to this one.
