Less moving parts = less heat, less chance for something to go wrong. Generally that is true.

Might be closer to 2 years. But by then I'll probably be replacing it with a new 6 or 8TB drive anyway.

I think this is half right. Both the platters and heads are stacked and bonded together (as independent units). So you aren't AFAIK changing the "moving part" count but you are definitely increasing the density of physical material packed into the HDD case and you're sandwiching heads between platters.

IE it is the amount of extra material in the HDD that is the problem for creating and not shedding off heat as well. In essence, I agree with the point about having a justified rational to purchase single platter drives. I personally as a end user will always take slower and/or more reliable over speed and early burnout.
