I hate to say it but I told you so. I'm 10x a better pilot in the sim than I am in real life.

The HoneyBee V2 has been good cost wise on parts. The only problem is that parts get scarce around the Chinese New Year.

I wouldn't waste my time with a co-axial, but a fixed Pitch is that perfect compromise. Fly like a CP without the extra parts in the rotor head. So crashes on a FP are cheaper and don't require a ton of set up time.

You can even do things like the o-ring mod, the replaces the plastic links with o-rings. Slows it down a little and the o-rings don't break in a crash.

If you haven't read this yet, get in the habit of cutting the throttle completely if you see you're about to crash. If you get a HBv2, do the fuse mod before your first flight.

Oh I had no delusions that the sim was no replacement for real time experience. His 120SR was already jacked so I didn't get a good experience with the FP type of flight. After flying the sim some more last night, I still keep getting drawn to the mcpx.. or maybe a larger CP like a trex 450/550. Those are much more stable than the flighty mcpx. I don't mind the repairs, I enjoy a challenge, and being able to fly the 120 around like I was only being able to fly in reverse basically wasn't as hair raising as the mcpx lol. I feel like I could handle an FP with ease, if it weren't already damage like it was,;p.

I just really need to get an actual model of something(fp or cp) so I can practice cyclic movement in real time because there's just no comparison, even with using the sim.

Mortalis: The MCX2 is good for an indoor down time, and trying to land on the fan or upper cabinets but you can only scrape the skids across the fan blade and dust them so often, before it's old-hat;p The 6 channel radio I have allows me to alter the settings on it, and I've used the following settings:

D/R & EXPO
Be sure Elev D/R switch is in the 0 position to enter the first set of numbers.
AILE 0 75% +20%
ELEV 0 75% +20%
RUD 0 75% +20%
Now flip the Elev D/R switch to 1 to enter the next set of numbers
AILE 1 100% -15%
ELEV 1 100% -15%
RUDD 1 100% -15%

GYRO
RATE SW-GYRO
0: 0.0%
1: <100.0%

Throttle CUR
NORM +POS L 0.0%
pos 2 30.0%
pos 3 45.0%
pos 4 60.0%
pos H 75.0%
STUNT pos L 0.0%
pos 2 40.0%
pos 3 60.0%
pos 4 80.0%
pos H 100.0%
HOLD -0.0%

Travel ADJ
THRO – 100% - 125%
AILE – 125% - 125%
ELEV – 125% - 125%
RUDD – 125% - 125%
GYRO – 100% - 125%
PITC – 100% - 100%

The cyclic movement on the mcx2 isn't nearly as responsive as it is on the 120sr (fp) or the mcpx(cp).

Next time I head over to his place, or if I pick something up before then, I'll record it. I need to find an indoor flying location because it's just been too breezy really to actually do anything outside. Oh and Sworks, should I be cutitng throttle or throwing the throttle hold switch so it doesn't jettison to the ground like a rock? That's been my biggest issue, just knowing when to let go instead of trying to be a hero and save it and causing more damage.

Well for a fixed pitch you have something called a 4in1 or 3in1. You need to cut the throttle completely before the rotor blades stop. The electrical surge can fry the 4in1.

Look I can't tell you what to do, but I suggest more research. With my honey bee, when I was first learning to hover, when I crashed it would normally just pop the rotor head off. Pop it back on and keep flying.

That isn't going to happen on a CP helio. So when you start out, you'll hover for a few second and boom, now you need parts and a hour or two to fix.

Look CP are so much more complicated that guys are taking larger cp helios and making them FP for the simplicity and stability. You won't be flying inverted for a long time, and that is the biggest difference between CP and FP. (Obviously more to it).

Converted 450 http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=262663
Smaller 250 http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=255024 I have one of these as well as my HBv2
and the big dog a 500 conversion http://www.helifreak.com/showthread.php?t=304368

Also, learning to fly the smaller less stable ones will make you that much better of a pilot and cost you less in the long run.

Does this count, I have one of these:

It even shoots missiles!

no it doesn't. It doesn't count until you're flying something turbine powered and this big.
