Acer's press conference was pretty boring. They announced an ultrabook (like everyone else) and their own cloud service. Was hoping for details on the A700 tablet, but they only teased us with a very brief glimpse and a promise of more to come later. Ugh. Really?

They did confirm it's quad core and "native 1080p". So the rumors of the 1920x1200 resolution are probably accurate.

Toshiba unvieled the Excite 10 tablet. 7.7mm world's thinnest tablet. Sadly the specs are not exciting. A 1.2 GHz dual core OMAP 4430, 1GB RAM, 1280x800 resolution.

Lenovo IdeaTab S2 looks interesting. 1.5GHz dual core Snapdragon, 1GB RAM, and 1280x800. But this thing has has a clamshell dock like the ASUS Transformer. So it also converts into a netbook like Android device. Sadly it has possibly the worst custom UI I've ever seen. Why Lenovo, why?

Another Lenovo tablet, IdeaTab K2. Tegra 3 and 1920x1200 resolution. Bit on the chunky side though. And probably not coming anytime soon. So I'm not too excited about it.

ASUS announced a new Transformer Prime. The Transformer Optimus Prime... Just kidding about the name. It's the Transformer Prime TF700T.
http://www.pcper.com/news/Mobile/CES-2012-ASUS-Updates-Transformer-Prime-1920x1200-Display

Three notable improvements over the original Transformer Prime that just launched a couple weeks ago.

* A 1920x1200 resolution display (up from 1280x800)
* A 2.0MP front camera (up from 1.3MP)
* And an improved back cover that will fix the wifi, GPS, and bluetooth issues

It's coming this quarter for $600 and $700. So a $100 price bump over the existing model.

But just think, couple years ago when a 30" OLED TV would of run you few times that amount. In a few years we might be seeing 80" OLED sets that cost less and look better then anything on the market today. If only they would also be quadHD too

I survived to the end and got nothing out of it, but hey.
