I hope this isn't real. The alleged new Windows 8 logo would be a minimalistic monochrome green logo. This would replace the red, blue, green, and yellow fluttering logo.
Looks so boring and forgettable.

I installed the dev preview.
I didn't care for it at all. I really don't think it's necessary to make a unified OS across all platforms.
At least in the UI department. I didn't look under the hood, I just installed it to play with it. I moved on to Windows 7 for that machine.

Font looks real and believable, not sure on the flag portion, never seen that before, but who knows what sort of minimilistic thing Marketing is doing?

The logo is official, unveiled at Microsoft's Windows 8 Blog.

They showed the progress of Windows logos overs the years. And the Windows 8 logo looks a lot like the Windows 1.0 logo. They've gone old school on us. They said the logo past logos and developed into a flag design and become more detailed as computing power increased. But now wanted to go back to it's origins, to the original window looking design and something that was humble.
Think the Windows 3.1 logo is my favorite. Perhaps I'll learn to accept the Windows 8 humble logo. |

Doesn't bother me much. My current Win7 Theme already has a solid gray 4 square logo as the start button.

My problem with the design is that it doesn't stand out at all. For example, the nike symbol is simple, yet unique, so if I see that symbol anywhere I know it's Nike. If you look at the Windows logo it's a boring colored window that doesn't stand out, so when I see that symbol by itself I won't think oh it's the windows logo.
