I think Apple will go the dual core route. With a 2048x1536 resolution.

I almost said yes to LTE, but doesn't LTE drain batteries faster? I think they'll want to get longer usages out of a charge. So I don't see them going LTE.

Also doubling the battery size will make it larger and heavier. So I'm saying no to double the battery size.

And with an upgraded processor and 2048x1536 resolution, it's going to be more expensive. The iPads always sell out when first released, so they can get away with a higher price.

This iPad seems like it's going to be a bigger hardware improvement over the iPad 2, than the 2 was over the iPad 1. So calling it iPad 3 makes sense. But often Apple does odd things with it's naming and making sense isn't always a requirement. They may go with the iPad HD to make a distinction this isn't just an iPad, this is an iPad with an retina display.

Also Apple may want to maintain two lines of iPads at once. A lower end "iPad" line that continues on with the 1024x768 resolution and an "iPad HD" line that has the retina like display. Apple my eventually release something named an iPad 3 that is an economy model below the iPad HD lineup. Steve Jobs would never approve of such a thing, but Tim Cook might.

B. A5X dual core
Apple isn't one to just use bleeding edge technology because it's there. Usually when they do it's to fill a specific need. I don't believe there is a need for a quad core processor. It gives not immediate benefit to the iPad since iOS apps aren't tailored for it. They just started using dual cores and I suspect they'll continue using dual cores a bit longer. The A5X may be a 32nm A15 ARM processor that is just as capable as the A9 quad core Tegra 3 at CPU tasks and much more powerful at graphics.

B. No mini iPad (yet)
I don't believe for a second a smaller iPad will be announced tomorrow. This is going to be about the iPad HD (or 3) and maybe the Apple TV. I think Apple really should release a smaller and even cheaper iPad, but I think that'll come later if ever.

B. No LTE
This is a toss up. There are some chipsets that integrated a new low power LTE radio coming soon that will have much better battery life. But I suspect Apple has been building iPads for probably 2 or 3 months now and these new low powered LTE radios might not have been ready yet. Also LTE is still not available in many areas. This might be one of those technologies that still just a bit early for Apple to include.

A. Yes 2048x1536
With Apple rumors anything is possible. It almost seemed a certainty they were releasing a tapered 4 inch iPhone 5 last year, case manufactures even made cases for them based on Chinese mockups and we got the iPhone 4 Part 2 instead. But still, it just would be the mother of all disappointments if the iPad 3 didn't have a much higher resolution display. It appears to be a fact that the panels exist, so someone must be buying them.

A. Yes, higher price.
This is a toss up too for me. I don't really know. But like I speculated regarding the name. I kinda think Apple might be trying to run with two iPad lineups. A economy line and a high end line. I find it hard to imagine Apple has enough supply of retina displays to keep up with the normal iPad demand that grows with each model. I suspect Apple might reduce the iPad 2 price (some retailers already have by $50) and launch the iPad HD at the rumor $580 price or even more.

B. No massive battery
There is a rumor that Apple would have a massive battery that is twice as large as the current iPad 2. I'm sure battery technology is improving, but I doubt they could more the double up on the size of the battery without a significant increase in weight. I do believe it maybe be somewhat larger, but not twice or more. Instead they'll focus on saving power with the chipset and display as much as possible somehow.

Not too shabby I guess.

Yeah, some confusion on what the A5X is now. It was thought to be a dual core processor. Apple referred to it have quad core graphics. So when they say A5X quad core, not sure if they are talking about the CPU or graphics.
