I actually went with all your suggestions Ravy. Now the total is about 1320.00 but there are a couple mail in rebates of about 30 i think.

i dont consider 1300 bad at all with the components mentioned. try buying the same setup from dell/alienware/hp and see how much you spend!

I never had issue with mail in rebates before the last build I did in Dec. Still have not seen any of the 3 rebates sent in from gigabyte and antec.

To get the price down I'd probably dump the SSD and custom heatsink. Those are luxuries that can be added later.

$225 i2500K
$110 Z68 motherboard
$40 8GB memory
$90 650 watt PSU
$100 Windows 7
$20 DVD drive
$115 case
$140 WD 1TB Black HDD
$200 GTX 560

$1,040 (I rounded off prices so give or take a few dollars).

For a 27 inch monitor. I'd check out this thread.
http://www.overclock.net/t/1215866/reviewed-400-2560x1440-ips-no-ag-90hz-achieva-shimian-qh270-and-catleap-q270

People are buying up these Korean 27 inch IPS monitors with 2560x1440 resolution for only $400 (includes priority shipping from Korea). And they are getting pretty favorable reviews. I'm kinda thinking about getting one. Though the con is any warranty support is probably a major PITA in a best case scenario or non-existent in a worst case scenario.

I might have to order one of those. I'm not going to be building a new system for a couple of months. But for that price I might have to buy the PSU now.
