Just reading some of the reviews... Looks really good for Nvidia. It's faster than the 7970 by a small margin, but is also finally more power efficient than the 7970, something Nvidia hasn't managed to do in quite a while.

It sounds great. If I had the money to throw around I would buy it to test it.

Sold one of my Radeon 6950 2GB cards on eBay last night. Sadly the buyer still hasn't paid (hate slow payers). And this morning my second 6950 2GB has sold (and he paid, yeah). Then my GTX 680 arrived from UPS here at work.

I'm gonna take off from work a bit early. Run home. Yank the 6950 card out of my desktop, box it up, run to the UPS store and ship it off. Come back home. Stick my GTX 680 in. And play something. Want to see how well adaptive vsync works out.

Got my GTX 680 in and going. A little stumble early on, I kept getting stuck at "Starting Windows" with the new card. Long story short, I went into Safe Mode, deleted the "standard VGA adapter". Rebooted, and was finally able to get into Windows and install the Nvidia drivers.

I had been trying out SWTOR for the last week with a trial account. Of course the trial expired and I'm not quite moved enough to buy the entire game to continue. So playing Rift instead with the GTX 680. Impressed I'm getting a good FPS in Meridian with max Ultra settings, Supersampling AA, at 2560x1600. With my 6950 2GB Crossfire, I'd have some stuttering in the capitals with FPS sometimes dropping to single digits when AA was enabled. But with the GTX 680, it's stayed smooth and FPS has never dropped under 30, averaging about 36 FPS. Which is pretty good for this game.

The card is running about 85C in Rift with 100% TDP and 85% GPU load. It's warming up here in Phoenix and the ambient temp in the room is 82F. I can hear the fan revving up, but one thing I've liked about Nvidia cards is, to me, their fans have a less annoying pitch to their sound than AMD fans.

So far, really impressed with the card.

Adaptive vsync doesn't seem to work in Rift. Kinda seems to make screen tearing worse. Then again, the Rift engine pretty much sucks, so this isn't surprising.

it would be nice to have that card but I think i will go with a 6870. all i do is play rift and only have a 23inch monitor. getting anything better is kinda wasting my money since the performance difference wont be much noticeable compared to the price differences.

6870- $170

560ti 448- $280

680- too much for my blood LOL
