Weird problem with my TV.. |

I use this TV for my PC , PS3 and DirecTV and an odd thing isthe TV stopped recognizing my PS3 and DirecTV UNLESS they are on HDMMI 1. But the TV will recognize my PC on any HDMI port and I am scratching my head on that one.
So the ports couldnt be bad right? And the chances of both the DirecTV and PS3 HDMI cables quit working at the same time is also pretty slim.
Any ideas as to how this could happen?
The TV is a 42" Hannspree.

I am picturing you plugging and unplugging these as needed and using 1 port more than the other. So, I would speculate the most used port is HDMI 2?
So the connection is tighter on 1?

Curious though, Try plugging them in HDMI port 2.
First turn on the device, then after 30seconds, turn on the TV.
As I assume you already did it the other way.

if you have it, use component connection to connect your direct TV

My TV has 4 HDMI ports and I had been using HDMI 1 for my PC , HDMI 2 for PS3 and HDMI 4 for the DTV. I had that setup for around a year now and it was working fine until a few days ago when both the PS3 and DTV stopped being recognized but they both work in HDMI 1 and the PC works in all 4 ports. Thats why I am confused. Normally I would just say the ports went bad but that doesnt seem to be the case.
And I have tried about everything.. I may just get a hdmi switch and just use hdmi 1.

knowing nothing about hdmi technology (other than it works well usually)...I would be considering this a problem cause by a board in the tv. I'd certainly swap cables around to eliminate that as a possibility. If you aren't swapping the cables on a regular basis, it doesn't seem like you would have caused the connecters to wear out or become loose.
An hdmi switch sounds like a good solution if you eliminate the cables as the culprit.

Odd.
You might also try unplugging the TV over night to ""discharge"" it.

I havent been swapping the cables at all other than recently when trying to figure out if the cables or ports were bad and neither seems to be the clear culprit.

it shouldnt take long to discharge a tv nowadays unlike the old CRT standards. unplug it try to turn it on let it set for a few minutes then test.
