Sears has great tools and will replace them for free if they break just like the outpost.

Craftsman tools are now made in China, and some of the newer ones no longer have the lifetime warranty.

When I was younger I seem to remember Sears having a lot more quality goods and a better name. Now it's only half a step up from a K-Mart or Walmart. They're stuck somewhere between cheap big box and excellent quality - not a good place to be.

Of course society's change from wanting (and being able to afford) quality and well built items versus cheap and disposable goods doesn't help. A washer or dryer used to last 20 years with good care, now I wouldn't be surprised to find they're made to last only 5-10 years. Everything's cheaply made to be more "affordable" and to keep up with trends, but in the long run it's more expensive. We've been duped!

Yep -- I liked pre-K sears -- back when they had fieldmaster and you could buy shirts that lasted 8 years.
