Since no elected official actually writes or even reads legislation that they are in effect 'putting their name to' - I think this statement has a much broader appeal that you might have first imagined.

Don't be a blathering idiot. If you've been keeping up with current events, each candidate rose to the top and each, one by one got trounced by the media and other candidates. There is no conspiracy against Ron Paul. Just the political election juggernaught rolling over the current king of the hill. If Ron can't parry these attacks, he has no business swinging with the big boys.
Its pretty obvious the media was against him. They ignored him till they couldn't anymore for example.
