Seriously.
The entire station is supposed to be this great trading post. All this commerce is supposed to flow through there. The problem is - what commerce? Republicans are a sound and known economic detractor. It is hundreds of years in the future and I'm supposed to believe trickle down economics hasn't brought on the end of civilization yet?
It just doesn't make any sense and is stupid.

Here's a conundrum for you.
Starfleet does not pay its service members. Nog is a Starfleet officer who is culturally conditioned as a Ferengi to require payment for work. Starfleet frequently makes wide accommodations for cultural and biological differences. Do they pay Nog for his services?
