This comes up every election cycle, Iowa has rarely picked the winner and people always question the relevance.
Bu t if it didn't matter at some level, campaigns wouldn't waste the time and resources on it. It adds credibility if a candidate places in the top spots, but campaigns have historically been able to do badly or skip it entirely and still find a path to nomination.
