This makes it imperative that we NEVER put another Republican in the White House.
History doesn't support your implication....first..Obama (dem) signed this into law with massive bipartisan support...so at the very least Dems are as bad as Repubs in this matter...
but if you go back to WW2 internment camps which is basically the tpye of thing this law allows...you will see that it was FDR, who was a Dem, that implemented them...
so it is apparent that dems are as severe violators of civil liberties as any repub
and it is utter nonsense to think one party is better or worse than the other when it comes to individual freedoms....
p.s. due to the nature of this new law and it's nearly identical likeness to historic events....it is clear that the US govt is preparing for a large war...and at least some of the targets will be citizens

No. They removed the bit REQUIRING the president to detain them via the military without trial.
They left in the part that syas he CAN detain American citizens forever without trial if he wants to.

I seem to remember that the worst offender was a democrat, FDR allowed many citizens to be held against their will during WW2. He also decided that habeas corpus didn't apply to people being held for mental health evaluations so many very sane people sat out the war in looney bins at the orders of FDR or members of his administration.
