Good for Newt for at least talking that he will go.
All of the repubs minus one bailed out of their invites to the NAACP debate for the 2008 run.
Accolades to Tom Tancredo for having the stones to have gone and answer questions.

Newt is a divider. His goal is to make it an us vs. them fight so he can blame the (blacks/muslims/jews/women/unions/protestors/democrats/etc...) and win votes by claiming he will protect the flavor-of-the speech "us" from their new-found enemy. This is a quality I look for when dismissing a presidential candidate. He's on a short list of people I absolutely will not vote for.
If it wasn't bad for America, I'd almost want him to win the GOP nomination just so I can ignore everything leading up to the election and make my decision easy come November.

That sentiment is awesome. I don't see how we can have a thread about the sad state of upward mobility in america on the front page and then say that this sentiment is boneheaded. Unless you just meant it was racist to assume the NAACP is full of welfare suckas.
The problem of course, is that a large portion of our african american population does receive welfare.

White people are the biggest recipients of food stamps. They account for ~35% of people on the program. African Americans account for ~22%.
Seems to me he'd have greater luck going to a Nascar race if he wants more people off food stamps.

Absolute numbers and percentages are difficult for some people.
Whites make up 64% of the US
Blacks make up 12% of the US
Therefore, Blacks are ~3.5-4 times more likely to be on foodstamps than whites.

You get more cost savings by reducing the total amount of people on the program. The biggest group of people on the program are White people.
