Why simply drop bombs on a country when you can stick a hundred thousand kids into a country full of people who want to kill them?
Successful short term engagements with very limited casualties is a sign of a country that has lost its way.

I think most people that understood the state of the economy at the start of Obama's term knew it would be a rough 4 years for him.
Ultimately most people don't really understand the current state of our economy well enough to understand that there is need for massive change and this means there is no political support or really incentive to make these changes. The people are starting to realize things are not right, OWS for example, but the nation as a whole is still far away from pushing for the necessary changes.
The biggest potential mistake for Obama was Obamacare. The mistake is not that it extended coverage but it didn't go far enough and tried to extend coverage without moving away from private insurance.
