I don't know what you people are talking about. Huttball is an awesome map and concept.
The problem isn't in the map or the concept. The problem that makes huttball suck is that classes are terribly, farcically misbalanced for it. When you have a map where pushes, pulls and charges are by far the most important abilities, and then you distribute those abilities in an extremely unbalanced way, you're going to have problems.
It is also a map that not only rewards but positively REQUIRES teamwork and knowledge of how the game works. Which means it's great to play with a premade, but absolutely awful to play with a bunch of scrubs.
The other problem is that becuase your knockbacks and pulls and charges are so important, it also works extraordinarily badly with their beyond-retarded lack of PVP brackets. Being a 50 (or at least a 40+) is even more ridiculously overpowering in huttball because it gives you access to game-breaking tools you don't have as a level 11 scrub.
It is basically a great concept for a pvp game that doesn't fit with a bunch of SWTOR's other features.

As a Powertech Bounty Hunter, I am pretty much forced to go tank spec if I want to PVP due to Huttball (on an Empire dominated server so the majority of my matches are Empire-Empire Huttball). Just not useful enough in Huttball if I don't go down the tree that gives Jet Charge. Sure, I get the grapple regardless of spec, but it isn't nearly as useful.
But the sheer number of root and slows is very aggravating for a melee focused class.

Try playing an operative. Most useless huttball class ever. ZERO pushes, pulls OR charges.
