Yeah i remember when people like Dan Rather were honest people.......err wait.

Have you noticed Dan Rather isn't on the news anymore? Where as Glenn Beck gets his own TV network. You can't see the disjoint from reality you are inflicted with?

The irony of this in relation to the fairness doctrine is somewhat amusing.

The more you two post about the Fairness Doctrine the more convinced I am that neither one of you has Clue #1.

Hint: Republicans didn't need to get rid of the fairness doctrine so they could take over all of talk radio - because there was no such thing as "talk radio" before the fairness doctrine was abolished. The very idea is laughable.

That is a purely political move on the part of the regulators who I have to assume answer to parliament. All news is inherently biased, if you think you are getting just truth or raw facts from the current media establishment then the only thing I can say to that is that you can't fix stupid. Much less the profoundly stupid.

Political talk radio has been around since radio was started. It certainly exploded after the fairness doctrine was repealed, but it's been around as long as radio has.

Dumbass.

Really? That's odd, since the Fairness Doctrine prevented anyone from articulating any kind of political opinions without opening themselves up to an invasion of people demanding equal time to voice opposing views - and they'd have to let them do just that.

If there were political opinion shows on radio during the time of the Fairness Doctrine then the challenge you face should be trivial: Name one.

Are you seriously this stupid?

I JUST posted a picture of Father Coughlin - who was the Glen Beck of the 1930's.

Challenge... Failed. As a reminder, the Fairness Doctrine didn't exist when he was on the air.

Would you like to play again? (Y/n)

Here
you go:

Quote:

Joe Pyne, John Nebel, Jean Shepherd, and Jerry Williams (WMEX-Boston) were among the first to explore the medium in the 1950s.

Two radio stations—KMOX, 1120 AM in St. Louis, Missouri, and KABC, 790 AM in Los Angeles—adopted an all-talk show format in 1960, and both claim to be the first to have done so. KABC station manager Ben Hoberman and KMOX station manager Robert Hyland independently developed the all-talk format. KTKK, 630 in Salt Lake City, then known as KSXX, adopted a full time talk schedule in 1965 and has claimed to have been the third station in the country to have done so. KSXX started with all local talent, and KTKK today has a larger portion of its schedule featuring local talent than most other stations that run a full schedule of talk.

In the 1970s and early 1980s, as many listeners abandoned AM music formats for the high fidelity sound of the FM radio dial, the Talk Radio format began to catch on in more large cities. Former music stations such as KLIF, Dallas, Texas), WLW (Cincinnati, Ohio), WHAS (Louisville, Kentucky), WHAM (Rochester, New York), WLS (Chicago, Illinois), KFI (Los Angeles, California), WRKO (Boston, Massachusetts), WKBW (Buffalo, New York), and WABC (New York, New York) made the switch to all-talk as their ratings slumped due to listener migration to the FM band.

There's a at least dozen examples, all between 1949 - 1980.

Rush Limbaugh was also doing a political talk show before the Fairness Doctrine was repealed.

Which part of 'it's been around the entire time radio has' is so hard to grasp?

Would you like to continue or are we slinking back to our hole now?
