The outrage by the chain of command is puzzling. If the guy I'm pissing on just killed one of my platoon members, I'm sorry, I just forgot my manners. Futz them.

So if the former administration took castigation for Abu Gharib, does the current administration get castigation for this or is it summarily dismissed as an "isolated incident"?
Just want to know what the Big Government Sycophant marching orders are this week.

Incorrect. Abu Gharib can be taken up the chain of command quite a ways. Since Bush and Cheney tried to redefine torture, teh Genva Convention AND the Constitution I would say you can take it all the way to the top.
Nobody in the chain of command said "Whip it out and whiz Soldier!"

Torturing prisoners and pissing on a dead enemy are two different things as Nnanji pointed out. I will kill you in battle. But I wont torture you in custody. War is futzed up. It is truly hell.
