Sometimes you take too critical an eye to things Sin.

It's what you do I know that but this movie was ok in my book.

The dialogue was awful, the acting (obviously) was awful. It was painfully slow in a few places and it had a lot of the completely unbelievable action cliches like enemies standing around waiting to be shot and weapons (grenades) being completely absent in one scene then magically in infinite supply in the next.

They tried to give it a message with the whole saving the girl thing but it was a limp-wristed attempt made worse by Stallone's inability to convey an emotion.

A 'mindless action flick' has to maintain some standard of quality and this film lacked in too many of them. I can deal with bad dialogue and acting if the story is good and the action is entertaining and I can deal with a weak plot and cliche'd action if the characters and acting are good. You can't have bad dialogue, weak story, tons of cliches and ridiculous acting and not suck.

I rolled my eyes and almost shut it off when the two wrestlers had their showdown. I'm sure that movie was extremely popular in the pro wrestling segment of the population.

I love the fans of it who think 'getting it' somehow excuses everything. The film was dated and derivative; remaking mediocre movies and calling it an homage does automatically make a film clever or good.

If you're not passionate about something, you shouldn't write about it. I get worked up about movies sometimes and that's why I like scribbling about them.

I do recognize what you are saying, however.

The expendables was awesome. Complaining about the story is like complaining that your big mac isn't healthy. just STFU movie dork.

When I first saw trailers for Expendables - I thought, Ok man flick, action, explosions, hopefully very little dialogue. I got to thinking about it and I knew it was going to be a crapfest, there was just no way to tie all those bad ass action hero's together into something that would work.

I had completely forgotten about the movie until one night I was scrolling through netflix looking for something to watch. BAM there it was Expendables... granted I wasn't expecting anything but crap. But for what it was, and what it was trying to be, I thought it was an entertaining movie. Heck I'd even sit through it again if someone wanted to watch it.

I'm glad I didn't spend the money and time to go see it in the theaters but there was absolutely nothing wrong with that movie, it was pure brain free entertainment... If you think there was, you were simply expecting way way way too much out of it.

Brain-free entertainment? I saw Cowboys & Aliens the other night and I'd most definitely classify that as brain-free entertainment. I'd also classify it as pure shit. Explosions lapping against my corneas like waves of torrential vomit doesn't trigger a shut-down sequence in my brain. My brain tells me: "This is shit," and I'm often inclined to agree with my brain on such matters. I'm curious: Do you have to wear a helmet when you watch movies?

Haven't gotten to that point yet.

I dunno sometimes I enjoy a barely plausible/passable plot which sets up some ass kicking...

Like I said, I didn't expect much, I got what I expected and I was more entertained than put off while watching it. Glad I didn't waste time or money on seeing it in the theaters, but then again I figured that would be a waste of time and money based on the trailer.

It was 90 minutes of mild entertainment... Better than watching info-mercials or Conan for the 1,000th time...

I will say this: I thoroughly enjoyed the newest Rambo movie. But it was intellectually engaging.
