We are going for big blue catfish .I'm taking a guides advice and using one pound tilapia filets(thats a big bait)...should be fun anything we catch will be big.They should give me a good ride in my canoe too! I'm really trying to get a 50 lb+ cat for my bucket list.

Do you have any maps of the lake? I found the one for my bucket list laying near a gas pipeline that was on the bottom not far from an incoming water source. The big boys will find the best spots. Good luck!

I'm fishing the islands on lake Houston right by where the San Jacento flows into the lake...it is a well know spot for big blues and where a guide friend told me to go.
Those fishing maps can be a great help,I'll pick up one next month if I can ...I'm spending alot of my extra money on equipment right now...I'm getting a fish finder,drop in fishing lights 2 batteries and a trolling motor and camping supplies so i can go out and stay in the Sam Houston Forest or The Big Thicket.

Thanks,I'll need it..I'm trying to show off again doing something I'm not that familiar with on a lake I don't know well at all...tempting fate and fate hates my guts.
