Well sometimes. I like the added scenes in Aliens

It surely must be a coincidence that you always see the theatrical version first.

There are very talented people who cut films down to hit the sweet spot of mass movie goer appeal. For most films they probably do a good job choosing which scenes are really necessary.

I liked the director's cuts of the Alien films; I liked the extended versions of the LOTR films, I haven't even seen the theatrical releases since the day I saw them in the theater. There are a number of films where I liked the director's cut, mostly films that I was already a fan of and enjoyed seeing more from.

A lot of films are hurt by adding in those not entirely necessary scenes because the film wasn't strong enough to carry them.

Films are generally too long as is.

Two hours should be the absolute limit of the medium, not the average.

Did you think Ghandi was too long? Should his life have been pared down to 2 hours?

I loved that movie. Very under rated. Like Troy.

Oh I need to look into that directors cut.

I remember I was surprised to hear that Edward Norton was in Kingdom of Heaven.
